Hinges for kitchen doors, cabinets and furniture

Hinges for kitchen doors, cabinets and furniture

Here you will find hinges for kitchen doors, cabinets, furniture, display cabinets and many other applications. The range includes everything from standard concealed hinges to hinges with soft close, push-to-open, wide-angle hinges and specialist solutions for glass, aluminium frames, thin doors and other special constructions.

The right hinge depends on factors such as the material and thickness of the door, its position in relation to the cabinet carcass, the required opening angle and the desired closing function. To make choosing easier, we have divided our range according to both construction and application.

Choose the right type of hinge

For standard kitchen and furniture doors, concealed hinges with a 35 mm cup diameter are the most common choice. However, many applications require a different type of hinge.

  • Concealed hinges – recessed furniture hinges for kitchen doors, cabinets and furniture. Available with Ø 26, Ø 35 and Ø 40 mm cups as well as AIR hinges.
  • Soft-close hinges – hinges with integrated damping that slows the door during the final part of the closing movement.
  • Push-to-open hinges – designed for handleless doors and normally combined with a suitable push-to-open catch.
  • Wide-angle hinges – for applications where the door needs to open considerably further than with a standard hinge.
  • Hinges for glass and mirrors – specialist hinges for glass doors, mirrored doors and display cabinets.
  • Hinges for aluminium frames – designed for doors and fronts with aluminium profiles.
  • Flap hinges – solutions for downward-opening and folding doors, including Salice Kimana and Pacta.
  • Hinges for special doors – for thin doors, folding doors and other applications where a standard hinge is not suitable.

Full overlay, half overlay or inset?

An important factor when choosing a hinge is how the door is positioned in relation to the cabinet carcass. A full overlay door covers most of the cabinet side, while two half overlay doors can share the same centre panel. An inset door sits inside the sides of the cabinet carcass. The hinge arm and mounting plate height are selected according to the required configuration.

Cup diameter and door thickness

Ø 35 mm is the most common cup diameter for modern kitchen and furniture hinges. Ø 26 mm is used where mounting space is limited, for example on narrow frame doors and smaller pieces of furniture. For very thick or heavily profiled doors, hinges with a Ø 40 mm cup are also available.

For thin doors and special materials, there are also hinges designed for applications where a conventional 35 mm cup hinge cannot be used.

Opening angle

Standard hinges typically have an opening angle of around 105–110°. Where greater access is required, wide-angle hinges are available with opening angles such as 155°, 165° or even wider. Hinges with smaller opening angles are also available for special applications.

Don't forget the mounting plate

Many concealed hinges are used with a separate mounting plate attached to the cabinet carcass. The mounting plate height affects the position and overlay of the door, so always check which mounting plates are compatible with the selected hinge.

Our range also includes mounting plates, cover caps and other accessories for completing the installation.

Frequently asked questions about hinges

Which hinge should I choose for a standard kitchen door?

For standard kitchen doors, concealed hinges with a 35 mm cup diameter are the most common choice. The correct model depends on whether the door is full overlay, half overlay or inset, as well as the required opening angle and closing function.

What is the difference between full overlay, half overlay and inset hinges?

The difference is how the door is positioned in relation to the cabinet carcass. A full overlay door covers most of the cabinet side, a half overlay door normally shares a centre panel with another door, and an inset door sits inside the sides of the cabinet carcass.

What does hinge cup diameter mean?

The cup diameter is the diameter of the part of the hinge that is recessed into the door. Ø 35 mm is the most common size for kitchen and furniture doors, while Ø 26 mm is suitable for smaller doors and applications where mounting space is limited.

What is a soft-close hinge?

A soft-close hinge has integrated damping that slows the door during the final part of the closing movement, providing a smooth and controlled close.

Which hinges are suitable for handleless doors?

Push-to-open hinges are normally used for handleless doors together with a suitable push-to-open catch. The door is opened by applying light pressure to the front.

When should I use a wide-angle hinge?

Wide-angle hinges are used when the door needs to open further than with a standard hinge. They are available with various opening angles, including 155° and 165°, and provide easier access to the inside of the cabinet.

Are hinges available for glass, mirrors and aluminium frames?

Yes. Specialist hinges are available for glass and mirrored doors, as well as models specifically designed for doors with aluminium frames.

Which hinges are suitable for thin doors?

Specialist hinges are available for thin doors and materials where a conventional 35 mm cup hinge cannot be installed. The correct model depends on the material, door thickness and construction.

Do I need a mounting plate for the hinge?

Many concealed hinges require a separate mounting plate attached to the cabinet carcass. The mounting plate height affects the position and overlay of the door, so always check which mounting plate is compatible with the selected hinge.

How many hinges do I need per door?

The number of hinges required depends on the height, width, weight and material of the door. Smaller doors can often be fitted with two hinges, while larger or heavier doors may require three or more. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the selected hinge.
